![]() The Twin Fairies, Dalfinn and Goewinn, known also as the Arrow and the Bow, dwell in abutting lands, on the eastern shore. There, they guard the most perilous secrets - the Wyvern's Steep, the Caves of the Dragon Prince, the Sea of Memory and the Gate to the other Worlds. They make their home in the Feasting Hall upon the Green Wyrm's back, that merry place of hunts and fires and story-telling and song-singing. But though they make merry, the twins as well as all their people are ever wary against strangers who would treat the things they guard with disbelieving carelessness. To the north is Viviane and her foolish, imaginary herald of a Wyvern. To the east is the Gulf of Barges and the Monastery of St. Maddieu that overlooks the Still Lake. Westward lies the Dark Wood, guarded by two Garrisons that Gavron built, and which the men of Dalfinn and Goewinn continue to reinforce.

Originally conceived by Ylondas the Sorcerer, a citizen of the Gatanean Empire, Gates have been placed on almost every world that rises from the True Earth. Many refugees have escaped through the Gates into the Twelve Kingdoms, seeking sanctuary from the Empire. When the Fairies came, the Gate was sealed. The Twins also guard the Sea of Memory, one drink of which will wipe a man's mind free of all memories. Yet some say that the Sea of Memory is one of the birthplaces of the Unicorns, and therefore although it wipes away memory, it also wipes away some transgressions. Just south of the Sea of Memory is the Coral Reef, which falls under Rhianna's rule. Several noble families dwell within the twins' land, including the Dukes of Llewellyn who are closely aligned with Siawn Shieldbearer's line, being second in nobility only to the King. The brother of the first Llewellyn founded the line of Brannaugh, who were the first to guard the Gate. By the southernmost border of Goewinn and Malinka resides the Lords of Liadan, whose banner is the Grey Lady, after the Shrouded Lake that separates Malinka from Goewinn. All three families have the honor to have fought against the Wolf King near the end of his reign.
