The fight upon the hill with that damn boy had weakened him, although he still lived. A wound to the heart, a slit through, and yet he lived. Day after day the sea consumed him, abandoned him, the wind barraged him, and yet he lived. How many times had he taken his own life, had he made ropes of seaweed, plunged his ensorcelled dagger into his belly, let the shadows feed on his blood until one one drop remained - and yet he lived!

When at last he dreamt, he dreamt of death. And when he woke, he screamed.

Known as: The Count.

Family: A wife, deceased (reported suicide). A son, heir to the Count's ancient line, driven by the Princess's beauty to take up the cloth. Currently a monk living near the Sea of Barges.

Mission: To revenge himself upon the Princess, whom he regards as the cause of his lineage dying.

Nemesis/Opposite: The young guard, Liam mac Hwyach, who with Pwll of Branmoor set out to recapture the Count.
