Patricia Wrede's Worldbuilder Questions
Patricia Wrede is an excellent, excellent novelist (who also dabbles in mixing Regency and Fantasy! Check out her hard-to-find books, Mairelon the Magician and its sequel Magician's Ward through any of the above links. If you've the time, I also highly recommmend *sigh* her incredibly difficult to find and exorbitantly priced novel, Sorcery and Cecelia. Well worth it, all!) - and now we know why she's so good. These questions are fairly comprehensive, and give a good starting place for worldbuilding, THE crucial element of Fantastic Fiction. The page is poorly laid out, but don't let that deter you.
